Meet Aerecura’s
Sustainable Builders

Sylvia Cook
Founder + CEO

A lifelong environmentalist, Sylvia was a physicist and teacher before turning sustainable builder. For her, rammed earth offers the elegant solution that every home owner seeks, a construction system that creates and maintains human-friendly spaces, ensures building longevity, and minimizes environmental impact.

Sylvia’s key role in Aerecura is education. Her passion for sustainable building science, along with her practical, professional knowledge of rammed earth, are evident whether she is sharing her wealth of knowledge with clients, industry professionals, or presenting to college students, or the general public.

Sylvia's vision extends far beyond the unique homes and rammed earth projects Aerecura builds. Through Aerecura, she strives to foster a world where sustainable building methods, inclusivity, and parity are not just an aspiration of the construction industry, but a reality.

Sylvia lives in Northumberland County, in the first rammed earth home built in Ontario.

Our Crew

Our crew consists of a diverse group of talented craftspeople who bring their unique skills and expertise to each of our projects.
Our
Project Managers all share a commitment to sustainable building that informs their focus and inspires excellence from their crews. Each of them are creative, innovative, problem-solvers who work closely with our clients and the rest of the design team.

Aerecura is a women-owned business, and proudly an equal opportunity employer. We place high importance in workplace equality and equity, especially as a business in the construction industry. Aerecura is a safe and inclusive workplace for all our employees, tradespeople and clients. We prioritize fostering a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and heard.

Being an architect in Brazil, working with Aerecura was always my dream since I came across their Rammed Earth buildings and their passion to build a sustainable future. I’m really glad to be a project manager working in such a good environment, surrounded by incredible people, where they see your value as an employee, a person, and a friend.
— Pedro Artur, Project Manager
It is so fulfilling to work with a great group of people on projects that we’re really proud of. To take part in creating something that is both functional and beautiful, that will be a kind of monolith in its surrounding landscape for hundreds of years to come, is a special privilege that I hadn’t felt until I unveiled my first rammed earth wall.
— Nika Zelina, Lead Hand
I appreciate the sense of community working with a small family business and take pride in the role we are playing in this country’s building industry. Working on custom homes will expand your skill set, engage you with new amazing people and keep you moving forward professionally. As builders, we all take great joy seeing a project through from beginning to end. If you’re building in rammed earth, I guarantee that final reveal is like nothing else you’ve experienced in construction.
— Andrew Dzenis, Senior Project Manager
