Education and Outreach

As Ontario's leading rammed earth builder, we've learned that creating more sustainable buildings isn't just about the projects we complete—it's about sharing knowledge, asking better questions, and helping others discover what's possible.

Alongside our work designing and building homes, we regularly collaborate with architects, educational institutions, community organizations, and industry professionals through presentations, workshops, project tours, and speaking engagements.

Whether introducing someone to rammed earth for the first time or discussing advances in high-performance construction, we believe education is an essential part of creating a more sustainable built environment.

Architectural Education Sessions

Rammed earth is unlike any other structural material, and successful projects begin with collaboration.

We offer educational presentations for architectural firms interested in incorporating rammed earth into their work.

Sessions introduce the fundamentals of rammed earth construction, wall assemblies, detailing, performance, and the opportunities and considerations of designing with the material.

Speaker Series & Community Events

Members of the Aerecura team - including founder Sylvia Cook, General Manager Graham Cavalier, and Lead Designer Pedro Paes - regularly speak at conferences, community events, industry gatherings, and educational programs.

Topics range from rammed earth construction and sustainable building to building science, design, material innovation, and the lessons we've learned through nearly two decades of practice.

If you're planning an event and looking for a speaker, we'd be happy to hear from you.

Public Workshops

From time to time, we host public workshops that give participants the opportunity to experience rammed earth firsthand.

Whether building a landscape feature, exploring the material through a hands-on project, or learning more about sustainable construction, these workshops are designed to connect people with one of the world's oldest—and most relevant—building materials.

Student Workshops

Supporting the next generation of builders, designers, and architects has always been important to us.

We offer hands-on workshops for colleges, universities, and educational institutions studying sustainable construction, architecture, and natural building. Students have the opportunity to work directly with rammed earth while learning about material selection, construction techniques, and building science.

At this time, workshops are offered exclusively through educational institutions, or during our summer workshop series in Prince Edward County (see more details on these workshops below).
